Long Beach Ranked #1 for Pick-Up Theft Crime
While Texas might lead the nation when it coms to the most pick-up truck thefts, Long Beach, Los Angeles has been ranked the top urban location for pick-up theft crime.
Theft Crime Study
A study conducted by The National Insurance Crime Bureau took a look at nationwide pick-up truck vehicle thefts for model years 2011-2013. The study was then categorized by type of truck and location. It went on to conclude that more full-size pick-up trucks were stolen than compact versions – up to ten times more stone. Texas, California and Florida had the highest numbers of thefts. Texas and California account for more than 40% (nationwide), of all pick-up truck thefts. Luckily the study also found that more than 80% of the victims of the pick-up truck theft got their vehicles back.
Most Stolen Vehicles in the US
Another recent story noted the Honda Accord and Civic sedans were the two most stolen vehicles in the US in 2013. According to the NCIB, 53,995 Accords and 45,001 Civics were stolen last year. Pick-up trucks were close behind in that study. Thieves stole 27,809 Chevrolet Silverados and 26,594 Ford F-series trucks.
