Uber Driver Accused of Sexual Assault

A driver for Uber is being investigated for sexually assaulting a woman he was driving.

Alleged Sexual Assault

The woman who alleges she was sexually assaulted by the driver was waiting for a ride between 10:30 and 11:30 p.m. when the driver pulled over. According to LAPD Det. Kimberly Porter, the woman, who is in her 20s, was standing near Palms Boulevard and Beethoven Street. The driver of the car then told the woman he was an off duty driver for the ride-sharing company. The woman then got into his car. That’s where the alleged sexual assault it said to have taken place.

Cooperating with Police Over Sexual Assault Accusations

While the driver has not been arrested, he is continuing to be cooperative with detectives as they investigate the alleged sexual assault. According to Uber spokeswoman, Eva Behrend, the man was not working for Uber that night.

“Our thoughts are with the victim of this terrible incident,” Behrend said. “We immediately reached out to LAPD and are working closely with them to provide any assistance we can. The driver in question has been removed from the platform while we gather the facts.”
