Amanda Bynes Driving Under the Influence
Recently actress Amanda Bynes was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence of drugs. She was stopped by a CHP officer in the middle of a Sherman Oaks intersection.
Bynes, 28, is a child star turned movie actress. In recent years she has often been ideal tabloid fodder, complete with a history of mental health issues and arrests.
Arrest for Alleged Drug Use
This is her latest run in with the law. She was was taken into custody just after 4 a.m. by the California Highway Patrol. She had been driving westbound on Riverside Drive as she approached the Van Nuys Blvd intersection. She came to a stop after the signal turned red, according to CHP Officer Leland Tang. Tang went on to say that Bynes’ blood was drawn. He was unsure what kind of drugs the actress was allegedly on.
Past Driving Under the Influence Issues
In 2012 Bynes crashed her car into a LA County sheriff’s deputy’s cruiser, for which she was later convicted of reckless driving. She received a sentence of three years probation and three months of required alcohol education classes. Over the last few years, Bynes has also had numerous run-ins with law enforcement in both L.A. and New York. Last year she set a fire in the driveway of her Southern California home and as a result was taken into custody on a mental health hold by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department. She then entered a psychiatric treatment facility. Her mother, Lynn, was granted conservatorship of the actress.
Recently
Recently she has been attending design classes in Riverside, while also continuing her treatment. The actress is already on probation in California for a charge of driving with a suspended license. She was also recently accused of throwing a glass bong out of her 36th-floor Manhattan apartment.
