Canadian Model Busted for Drug Crime at SoCal Airport
Aspiring Canadian model Krista Boseley, 30, was busted for alleged drug smuggling with intent to distribute at a Southern California airport.
Canadian Drug Duo
The stunning brunette, along with 61-year-old Gilles Lapointe were found to be carrying nearly 100 pounds of MDMA powder and almost 50,000 Ecstasy pills when their private plane landed at John Wayne Airport in Orange County. Plainclothes officers approached and questioned the Canadian citizens once they landed at the airport. Authorities were tipped off by their distinctive Lake airplane, with propeller over the passenger compartment. Drug-siffing dogs alerted officers to narcotics as the duo unloaded their luggage into a rental car.
“Have a Look”
Lapointe told authorities they could “have a look” at their belongings, as well as denied he had anything illegal. He was carrying $13,000 USD. Boseley had $7,500 in her Louis Vuitton purse. The duo claimed they had won the cash gambling at the Bellagio Casino in Vegas, where they had just flown from.
Closer Search Reveals More than Cash
A quick search of the plane revealed a digital scale and a “GPS Tracker Detector.” According to court documents, the detector is a device commonly used “by drug smugglers to determine whether law enforcement has placed a tracking device on their vehicles or planes.” Upon further search of the plane and rental car authorities found more than 50,000 Ecstasy pills and more than 40 kilos (about 90 pounds) of white and brown powder that tested for MDMA – the main ingredient for Ecstasy and club drug, Molly.
Both were charged with conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance.
